Kombucha Brewing - Day 4

DAY FOUR has arrived and new exciting things are still happening.

All three jars

The light-brown jelly-blob on the LEFT culture has now completely integrated with the scoby biofilm and with it forms a quite substantial knobbly surface.

The milky thickness of the MIDDLE culture can be seen very well today. The white patches underneath the surface are mostly trapped fermentation bubbles.

Looking at the greenish RIGHT jar you can see today that the dark oogly cloud has moved upwards, and sits right under the surface of the scoby - probably lifted up by fermentation bubbles into this higher position.

The oogli

Taking a good sniff at the 3 jars today, I could smell the definite, but still faint acidic aroma which is typical of Kombucha.

Again, a good progress report on all three Kombucha Tea Tonics in the making, on this FOURTH day of Kombucha fermentation.

P.S. Our PC is in dire need of a health tonic today. If only I could find a mouth on it, I'd feed it some Kombucha to snap it out of its locking-up mode. I think, instead, I will have a glass of KT to improve my mood! ;-)
